AGRIS Co-operative Ltd. is looking for a full-time elevator operator to join our team at the Thamesville branch supporting our farmer-owners and customers across the Chatham-Kent region. As part of the operations team, you will assist in the delivering of agriculture innovation and services in our communities to enhance farm owner profitability.

What will you be responsible for:

  • Provide an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
  • Accept orders for products or services and initiate any actions required to effect timely delivery.
  • Ensure all products ordered or shipped are invoiced correctly before leaving the co-operative.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies are on hand to support customer purchasing. In consultation with the manager, complete inventory counts and replace inventory as required.
  • The safe operation of any assigned vehicle.
  • Ensures that all deliveries are made on schedule.
  • Perform regular safety checks of the vehicle(s), keep the truck clean, and ensure that proper preventative maintenance and lubrication is carried out as required.
  • Ensures that safe loading and unloading techniques are followed.
  • Maintains truck and associated equipment in a safe, clean and workable condition.
  • Maintains current legislated and company required licenses, permits, etc.
  • Has good knowledge of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, practices safe driving techniques and maintains a good driving record.
  • Performs a variety of tasks to deliver on an exceptional customer experience.
  • Provides general labour and operates equipment safely and efficiently inside and outside the facility as required.
  • Provides good housekeeping in and about the facility and within assigned work area.
  • Assists with the maintenance of equipment and vehicles as required.
  • Monitors inventory and shrink levels if applicable; advises supervisor of discrepancies, as they occur.
  • Ensures that all associated documentation, including shipping and receiving, is accurate and completed according to schedule.
  • Performs other tasks associated with the handling of fertilizer and grain handled by the co-operative.
  • Understands and follows AGRIS health, safety and environmental policies and procedures required in case of an accident; follows detailed procedures as stipulated.

Requirements for this job:

  • Preference is given to individuals with an understanding of the agriculture industry.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors. Physical activity includes walking and climbing, loading/unloading trucks, inspecting equipment, driving, etc.
  • Ability to work irregular hours.
  • Work as required at any of the Chatham-Kent locations to support farm owner and branch needs across the Chatham-Kent region.
  • May have or be able to obtain various licences, permits, and certificates as required (e.g. Pesticide and Professional Applicator designations).
  • Preference is given to individuals with a DZ license and heavy equipment experience with a requirement to obtain a DZ license within 3 to 6 months of hire.
