Harvest is here, and as we look ahead to next season, seed deadlines and input decisions are approaching quickly. Fortunately, today’s precision agriculture tools give us the ability to make data-driven decisions that improve profitability, productivity, and long-term soil health.
Here are four key ways to put your farm data to work:
1. Yield Maps
Yield maps show exactly how different parts of your field performed. They can be used to build fertilizer recommendations based on crop removal, identify your most and least productive acres, and help you target management strategies where they matter most.
2. Soil Sampling
Soil tests are essential for understanding what nutrients your fields require. Using grid sampling or Soil Optix® allows you to take advantage of Variable Rate Technology (VRT), ensuring nutrients are applied where they are needed most for maximum ROI.
3. NDVI Imagery
NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) maps use satellite imagery to measure crop vigor and canopy density. When compared with yield maps and soil results, NDVI imagery helps you track crop progress throughout the season and identify opportunities for improvement.
4. As-Applied Maps
These maps record what was actually applied in each part of the field. When overlaid with yield and NDVI imagery, they help you analyze application effectiveness, identify misses, and evaluate which products or practices deliver the most value.
With so much data available, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. That’s where AGRIS comes in.
